Genmaicha Matcha-iri Bio is a classic Japanese green tea that combines the freshness of green tea leaves and matcha with the smoothness of puffed brown rice. This blend is composed of green tea and matcha and puffed brown rice, all sourced from controlled organic farming in Kirishima, Kyushu region. The combination of these ingredients creates a balanced, enveloping brew, where the herbal and umami notes of green tea and matcha blend harmoniously with the roasted and slightly sweet hints of rice. The result is a smooth, round and comforting cup, ideal at any time of day.Matcha adds depth to the taste and a distinctive umami flavor, while puffed rice gives a pleasant note of toasted cereal and hazelnut, without covering up the tea’s natural herbaceous freshness.Tasting – Sight and SmellThe leaves are flattened and deep green in color, enriched with a fine, bright matcha powder. Puffed and roasted brown rice grains stand out among the leaves, golden in color and lightly coated with matcha. Once infused, the tea releases a warm and inviting aroma, with notes of roasted rice, cereal, hazelnut and a delicate vegetable undertone. The liquor in the cup is light yellow-green in color, slightly opaque due to the presence of matcha.Tasting NotesTo the WestIntense toasted notes of puffed rice, cereals and dried fruits, particularly hazelnut and sweet almond, emerge on the first sip. This is followed by a pleasant natural sweetness and elegant umami, accompanied by delicate herbaceous and vegetal notes. The brew is smooth, balanced and free of bitterness, with medium body and a long persistence, dominated by toasted and slightly savory hints.Place of originKirishima, KyushuProductionGreen tea leaves are processed according to the traditional Japanese method: immediately after harvesting, they are treated with hot steam to block oxidation and preserve their bright color and fresh, herbal flavor profile. Next, the leaves are rolled and dried. Finally, they are blended with matcha and with puffed and roasted brown rice until the final composition is obtained: 55 percent green tea and matcha, 45 percent puffed brown rice.Infusion methodPlace 4 grams of leaves (about two teaspoons) in a Japanese Kyusu-type teapot or, failing that, in a teapot with a wide, flat bottom if possible. Pour 100 ml water at a temperature of 75°C over the leaves and after 30 seconds you can start pouring the infusion into cups.To make the most of the leaves and to continue the taste experience with this tea, we also recommend making two more infusions of the same leaves with the same quantity and temperature parameters but varying the infusion time. For the second, 40 seconds is suggested and for the third, 50 seconds. The tea can be filtered for ease when tasting, and also the infusion times given here above are meant to be purely indicative so one can also adjust according to one’s personal taste.PreservationStore Genmaicha Matcha-iri Bio in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and sources of moisture.
